A new series of ISO Standards offers the international construction industry practical tools to help organisations establish a procurement system that is fair, equitable, transparent, competitive, and cost-effective. The ISO 10845 series of Standards for construction procurement are designed to help public, private, and international organisations and their main contractors to align their procurement systems with international best practice.
The first part of the series, ISO 10845-1:2010, describes processes for developing a procurement system, and provides rules and guidelines on standard procurement methods and procedures. ISO 1-845-1 also gives a framework for developing a procurement policy and establishes the manner in which procurement is to be managed and controlled. The remaining seven parts, recently published, relate to specific aspects of procurement.

About Standards New Zealand
Standards New Zealand is the operating arm of the Standards Council, and part of New Zealand's standards and conformance infrastructure. Standards New Zealand is an autonomous Crown entity responsible for managing the development and distribution of Standards across a range of sectors nationally.
Standards New Zealand is a self-funded, not-for-profit organisation, relying on revenue primarily from contracts with sponsors to develop Standards, and from sales of Standards publications. Our independence helps us facilitate a cross section of stakeholders' contributions to the development of Standards, and ensure that each Standard meets the needs of end users.

The question is not what you gain from standardisation, it's what you lose without it.
