Wind farm noise – revised acoustics Standard published
Standards New Zealand has published Acoustics – Wind farm noise NZS 6808:2010. The revised and improved Standard recommends limits on wind farm noise.
NZS 6808:2010 provides tools to assess, measure, and limit noise from wind turbines. The revised Standard is expected to form the basis of noise-related conditions for all newly consented wind farms in New Zealand.
Local authorities (district and city councils), wind farm developers, and acoustics consultants who monitor compliance with resource consent conditions will use NZS 6808:2010.

[more]New rules for plumbers, gasfitters, and drainlayers
From 1 April 2010 some very important changes to the rules covering gasfitting work will come into force with the full implementation of the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Act 2006. These changes are primarily aimed at improving public health and safety.
Following extensive industry consultation, the Minister for Building and Construction has accepted the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board's recommendations on a wide variety of matters including changing the names of the main licence classes.

NZS 9203:1979 Model bylaw for Catchment Authorities – Regional Water Boards
Catchment authorities and their functions were replaced by regional councils under the Resource Management Act 1991. It is therefore proposed that this Standard be withdrawn. Comments on this proposal close on 13 April 2010 and should be sent to Craig Killey at craig.killey@standards.co.nz
