Issue 35 – February 2012
Many organisations use psychometric assessments and structured interviews to help them make the right hiring decisions. A new International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Standard, ISO 10667, outlines best practice for these assessments. The Standard will help organisations and human resources experts to create meaningful and ethical assessments, and to review assessment services. The Standard is in two parts.
- ISO 10667-1:2011 Assessment service delivery – Procedures and methods to assess people in work and organizational settings – Part 1: Requirements for the client
- ISO 10667-2:2011 Assessment service delivery – Procedures and methods to assess people in work and organizational settings – Part 2: Requirements for service providers
Following best practice as outlined in ISO 10667 will help organisations to achieve a better employee fit, help them to meet legal and ethical obligations, and ISO 10667 explains:
- how to identify when to use assessment
- how to access, use, and store assessment results and reports
- the conditions under which assessment should take place
- the rights and responsibilities of assessment participants
- example assessments that can be used, for example, for recruitment, restructures, and outplacement.
