Comments: An amendment to NZS 3640 is underway to allow for the inclusion of new timber treatments and to align the Standard with Amendment 7 of B2/AS1. Public comment closed on 9 May 2012 and the committee met on 30 May 2012 to discuss the feedback received.

Concrete masonry buildings not requiring specific engineering design

Comments: A limited revision of NZS 4229:1999 Concrete masonry buildings not requiring specific engineering design. The Standard is being revised to ensure consistency with the AS/NZS 1170 Structural design actions series of Standards. Changes in the draft include new earthquake zones which align with those in NZS 3604:2011 Timber-framed buildings, earthquake actions have been revised and may now be calculated specifically for a site's subsoil classification, an extra high wind zone has been introduced, and requirements for retaining walls and cantilevered walls have been updated. The draft is available for public comment until July 2012.

Platform Lifts in domestic and commercial buildings

Comments: This project is to develop a new Standard to provide technical guidance for the construction of platform lifts in domestic buildings and lower speed passenger lifts. The draft is being prepared for postal ballot and publication.

Comments: This project is a revision of the 2003 edition of NZS 3910 and is a limited revision covering the items identified by the 3910 Scoping Committee early in 2011. The most recent committee meeting identified the need for an additional meeting, to be held in July, to allow time for committee discussion of all proposed changes.
