The large and rapidly increasing number of electrical appliances used in the home and elsewhere means that new and updated Standards are constantly required to deal with safety issues connected with their use. International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) TC (Technical Committee) 61, Safety of household and similar electrical appliances, prepares international Standards to protect users of such equipment from a wide range of hazards.

AS/NZS 4417.1:2012 Regulatory compliance mark for electrical and electronic equipment – Part 1: Use of the mark
Specifies the requirements for the Regulatory Compliance Mark (RCM) and its placement on electrical and electronic equipment to indicate compliance with regulations applicable to aspects of the equipment as covered in Part 2 of this Standard.
Will supersede AS/NZS 4417.1:2009 on 1 March 2013
