Light and lighting – potential new area of work for ISO

Standards New Zealand is consulting with stakeholders about a potential new area of work for the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) – standardisation on light and lighting. The purpose of the proposed standardisation is the timely development and harmonisation of national specifications and requirements in the field of light and lighting, which play a major role for consumers, employees at their work places, employers, legal authorities, manufacturers of lamps, luminaires and measurement equipment, lighting designers, and architects, especially in the context of supporting optimised utilisation of energy and protection of the environment.
