The Health and Safety in Employment Regulations, 1995, require employers to take all practicable steps to ensure that employees are provided with ventilation providing fresh or purified air. Ventilation. Many heat problems are a result of poor ventilation. A good ventilation system can remove hot air from a building. It is also good for removing any contaminants from the air. New Zealand Standard 4303: Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality, Table 2, recommends ventilation rates for different types of workplace. In offices, for example, a ventilation rate of 10 litres of outside air per second, per person, is recommended.
